Staying Safe at Work During the Dog Days of Summer
Heat Stroke is the most severe form of heat injury and happens when the body fails to cool down. The best way to help prevent heat related illnesses are to:
- Wear light colored clothing
- Schedule heavy works for the beginning or end of the day when it is cooler
- Gradually build up to heavy work
- Take more breaks and rest in the shade to cool down
- Stay hydrated. Drink a lot of water. Avoid tea, coffee and soda as they may lead to dehydration
Anyone working in a repair shop or a parts warehouse is more likely to experience some of those conditions. Which is why it’s important to know what to do in order to stay safe.
