The New Year brings a time for change and looking forward with hope for better things to come. If you made a New Year’s Resolution, hopefully you are sticking to your plan, but it is usually around this time that we fail or give up. You have to have a plan in place and work the plan….don’t rely on willpower alone.

“Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen.”  – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Making changes is difficult and if you aren’t seeing results then the tendency is to quit, however there are ways to get through it and be successful. First and foremost don’t beat yourself up; perfection is unattainable. Starting small and setting realistic goals is key. If you fall off track, reset and recover. Talk about your goals and plans with family and friends and ask to be held accountable. Most importantly ASK for help.

Psychologist Lynn Bufka, PhD says, “Remember, it is not the extent of the change that matters, but rather the act of recognizing that lifestyle change is important and working toward it, one step at a time.”

Be proud of the successes you have had so far, don’t give up….just keep on truckin!
